pitiful simply pitiful

Yesterday my pastor used part of Dostoevsky's Brothers Karamazov in his sermon. I've tried to read it many times never getting past page 20 or so. Inspired by the sermon, I went looking for my copy which I bought at a used bookstore in Atlanta. I can't find it.

Yes, a librarian can't find a book in her own house.

Perhaps I have too many books?

Nah.

What disorganization! I think, just to be totally random, you should sort all of your novels according to Dewey Decimal classification.

You have two days to finish the task. Begin now.

There is No Such Thing as too many books.

There is such a thing as not enough time, however.

some scoundrel, I'm sure...

At my house I would suspect whoever it is that sneaks in and spoils my cat.

Odd: my own five years of undergraduate library work left me in the habit of making that the one easily- (not to say obsessively-) organized part of my home: all eight shelves of church history, for example, are neatly in chronological order, thank you. The truth must be that you loaned it out. And you should, by the way, feel good about page 20. I haven't opened it yet. For a dozen years I've told myself, "And this summer, I'll read the Russians." But I guess it'll have to be this summer 'cause it still hasn't happened. So your "page 20 or so" kicks my ass. I thought that would make you feel better. ;-)
