Movies:

Family Stone. Waaay better than I expected. Craig T. Nelson has moved faaar beyond "Coach." An excellent ensemble cast.
Brokeback Mountain. Not just a "gay cowboy" movie. :) Who knew Heath Ledger has a soul. Jake Gyllenhaul is his usual excellent self and the soundtrack is *amazing."

Books:

Don't Get Too Comfortable by David Rakoff. Rakoff is a contributor to "This American Life" and a very funny man.
Giant's House by Elizabeth McCracken. The best book ever about a librarian who falls in love with a giant. Okay maybe it's the only one but a brilliant, heartbreaking love story it is indeed!

Brokeback
My involvement with the Christian Church is at a minimal right now, but wondered what they have to say about this movie.

Church/Brokeback
It really depends on the church. "Liberal" churches don't have a problem with it but many folks in "conservative" churches do.

Very glad that you liked Brokeback Mountain. My roommate found it 'tedious.' :(
