Today’s work highlights so far:

1)A man called looking for charities in the area that pick up furniture. I called the Salvation Army and confirmed that indeed they do pick up furniture. I called the patron back, “No not them, they’re an army.” Must have been a pacifist.
2)A woman called “I have an algebra question.” Turns out that she’s tutoring high school students in algebra.
3)A man looking for info on certain Mafia figures who from his appearance might have already been buried by said Mafia.

United Cerebal Palsey also picks up furniture-- and will keep swinging through your neighborhood periodically if you call them once, so you can just keep setting stuff out on the curb for them.

Nope, that's also an army.

*cough* The reason someone might have an actual, legitimate, concern about donating to the Salvation Army is that they're Christian missionaries who used to try to force-convert the drunks and homeless during the Depression (want a hot meal? get saved!) Nowadays, they have good drug and alcohol rehab programs they sponsor, but the religious element is still there.

UCP is not, to my knowledge, a heavily missionary organization.

I think bona was kidding about the UCP being an army.

Sometimes his humor is very subtle. ;)

Apologies for those who haven't seen "Best in Show"

Okay. that's it. I've GOT to see that movie. I've had people reference that flick too many times for me to ignore it. I loved The Mighty Wind. I know I'll love this even more.

"Best in Show" is WAY better than "A Mighty Wind". You'll LOVE it!

That would be 1/64

Now if someone can get the local airport director to call me back, I'll be set!

You, obviously, should moonlight as a reference librarian.

(But don't give up your day job.)

No, no, I moonlight *with* a reference librarian. That's way more fun.

Random fact: Ridership at the Elkhart and South Bend Amtrak stations was up 22 and 20 percent, respectively, in 2004.

Level of urine smell on the walls, though, remained the same.
